The 24.5 MP full-frame CMOS sensor combines with the EXPEED 7 processor and the light intake advantages offered by the wider Z-Mount to offer maximum creative freedom. Sharpness, contrast, color accuracy, dynamic range, focus precision, low-light performance: you get the tools you need to realize your unique style. Used in Nikon's professional Z 8 and Z 9 cameras, the EXPEED 7 processor allows every element of the camera to operate in sync. When shooting video, the maximum native ISO value is 51,200 (expandable to 204,800 in Hi 2 mode). Instead of simply stabilizing the center of the image, the VR system works on your active AF point. Whether you're composing with a focus point at the edge of the frame or tracking a fast-moving subject, you'll always get optimal sharpness where it counts. For videos, you can combine the camera's in-body sensor VR with electronic VR. 3 You can get perfect handheld footage while walking, and if you use a wide-angle NIKKOR Z lens, any trapezoidal distortion will be corrected. Whether for photos or videos, the camera's in-body VR function is optimal for stabilizing bright lenses. You can also mount vintage NIKKOR F-Mount lenses and shoot with all the benefits of the Z f camera's powerful 8.0-stop VR stabilization, without any loss of image quality.



Subject detection even with manual focus

Thanks to the power of the EXPEED 7 processor and deep-learning technology, this full-frame mirrorless camera provides incredible assistance with manual focus for subject detection. If you activate subject detection while shooting with manual focus (MF), the Z f camera recognizes the subject and automatically shifts the focus point to it. This saves valuable time when shooting portraits of people, animals, or birds, as the camera will shift the focus point to the subject's face or eye. This allows you to concentrate on composition. Subject detection in MF mode works with both the viewfinder and the monitor. You can also use it for shooting with vintage F-mount lenses.



Vari-angle monitor with full rotation

The first fully rotating vari-angle touchscreen monitor on a full-frame Nikon Z camera makes shooting from any angle easy, while maintaining a clear view of the frame. In addition, you can newly assign shooting functions with Fn Touch. Fn Touch allows you to assign key controls to nine customizable areas on the bright, high-resolution touch monitor. This is a flexible and intuitive way to use the camera: simply tap an area to shift the focus point, switch between the eyes of one subject and another, select display grids, activate a virtual horizon, and more. By activating Fn Touch, you can also look through the viewfinder to compose the image using your thumb to specify focus on the monitor. Monitor or viewfinder, you'll always have perfectly smooth operation. When rotating the camera to shoot vertically, the on-screen menus and controls rotate to the vertical orientation. And if you rotate the monitor towards yourself, the camera automatically enters portrait mode.

For the first time in a Nikon Z camera, Pixel Shift technology allows you to combine up to 32 shots to create extremely detailed, ultra-high-resolution images with spectacular color reproduction. It's ideal for shooting in controlled studio environments or in scenes where the subject is completely still. Select a one-pixel shift to merge four or eight shots into a 24 MP RAW image, equivalent in size to four RAW frames. Or choose a 0.5-pixel shift to merge 16 or 32 shots and create a RAW image with up to 96 MP resolution, with a maximum image size equivalent to 16 RAW frames. When merging eight or 32 shots, moiré, false colors, and noise are drastically reduced. Combined with the capabilities of the Z f's sharp focus system, the results of shooting with Pixel Shift technology are truly amazing. Incredible results without compromise.
