NIKON HB-45
Lens Hood for NIKON HB-45
Useful Information:
Light (natural or artificial) hitting the lens causes various "whitish" infiltrations. Have you ever noticed, for example, a kind of haze effect on your subject when photographing it in direct sunlight? Direct sunlight or light reflected from objects and clouds results in poor color rendition, which becomes softened and hazy. Contrast also suffers because light infiltrations reduce the blacks in your photograph, as if you had photographed with a veil in front of the lens. Attaching a lens hood allows you to block these "bad" light intrusions. I'm referring to that part of the light that is not needed by the sensor to take the photograph, but rather comes from outside the field you are framing and is useless and even annoying. In photographs taken with a lens hood, the colors will be richer and more noticeable. The lens hood, in fact, performs the same function as a baseball cap or your hands, when you use them to shield yourself from a blinding light source and see better.
