The 85mm F1.4 DG DN | Art delivers clear images with delicate colors, necessary for portrait photography, with beautiful and sumptuous bokeh effects, possible only with large-diameter lenses with an F1.4 aperture, to such a level that it satisfies both the most demanding amateur photographers and professionals. The 85mm focal length and significant bokeh effect at F1.4 brightness allow photographers to create portraits that are completely different from the usual and achieve the goal of fully satisfying their subjects. In addition to fast and precise AF response, the exclusive mirrorless design of the 85mm F1.4 DG DN | Art has resulted in a lightweight and compact lens like no other. Despite its small size, it offers a wide range of features, including dust and splash resistance, not to mention excellent build quality.
The 85mm F1.4 DG DN | Art is SIGMA's new "portrait lens" for the mirrorless era. SIGMA opens new horizons thanks to the performance offered by this "always-on F1.4 lens," due to its great portability, as it is so compact and lightweight.

85mm F1.4 is a specification almost synonymous with a portrait lens. With the Art line lenses, SIGMA pursues the highest possible optical performance and has dedicated the latest optical design technologies, as well as the manufacturing technologies of the Aizu factory, SIGMA's sole production site, to the development of these lenses. The result is an extremely detailed image, a fundamental quality for portrait photography, which reaches levels capable of satisfying professionals and the most demanding amateurs. In addition to five SLD (Special Low Dispersion) elements and one aspherical lens, the 85mm F1.4 DG DN | Art uses the latest high-refraction optical glasses that completely correct aberrations that cannot be handled directly by camera functions. Thanks to particular care taken in correcting axial chromatic aberration, photographers will enjoy sharp images without color fringing, even at the maximum aperture of F1.4.
The high image resolution, both in the center and at the edges, together with the significant bokeh effect at the maximum aperture of F1.4, manages to highlight the subject from everything around it. Numerous technical tests, as well as numerous real-world application tests, have made it possible to build this 85mm F1.4 DG DN | Art capable of minimizing ghosting, ensuring clear and sharp images even when shooting in backlit conditions. With the ability to shoot at the maximum aperture of F1.4 without worrying about image quality, photographers can better focus on shooting operations, such as adjusting exposure and depth of field, to achieve the images they have in mind. 2. Lightweight and compact. A new feeling for F1.4

The 85mm F1.4 DGDN/Art lens weighs 630g, accepts 77mm diameter filters, and is just 94.1mm long. Designed specifically for mirrorless cameras, it is "a large-diameter lens with extraordinary optical performance" and "has a lightweight and compact body": such a combination has long been unattainable.
The stepping motor AF is optimized for both phase-difference AF and contrast AF. This not only provides smooth shooting possible only with a mirrorless camera with face/eye detection AF, but has also made the lens barrel very small thanks to the adoption of a stepping motor. Furthermore, by making full use of the aberration correction functions provided by the camera's internal devices, SIGMA was able to focus maximally on correction achieved through the optical design and lens quality. This also contributed to reducing the size of the lens. With such a light and small body, photographers can now enjoy a large-diameter 85mm F1.4 lens for their usual photography. 85mm F1.4 DG DN | Art invites photographers to enjoy photography in a different way.

This compact lens is equipped with a range of features to satisfy both amateur and professional photographers. The 85mm F1.4 DG DN | Art also includes an "aperture ring lock switch." This is to prevent accidental movement of the aperture ring during shooting, thus allowing photographers to focus solely on achieving the desired image. Furthermore, the "focus mode selector" on the lens barrel and the "AFL button *" which allows assigning various functions to the camera body, facilitate the photographer's shooting work.
In addition to dust and splash resistant construction, the lens uses materials such as aluminum and TSC (Thermally Stable Composite) in critical areas, thus achieving a level of build quality worthy of the Art line. Beyond the durability of the body, the lens also pursues quality in terms of ergonomics, for example with the smooth movement of each ring, the ease with which controls are operated, and the grip of the lens itself.
