Superb optical performance and great handling enhance the most popular focal length.
A "35mm F1.4 Art" is reborn for mirrorless cameras, improved by the latest SIGMA technology.

The current 35mm F1.4 DG HSM/Art was the first lens in the GLOBAL VISION series. Available since 2012, it has set the standard for all other lenses in the Art line. Thanks to its exceptional image quality, it has remained the preferred 35mm prime lens for many professional photographers. Nine years later, the 35mm F1.4 has been completely redesigned for mirrorless cameras, representing the pinnacle of optical design and manufacturing technology achieved in recent years with the GLOBAL VISION lens series. Like all other SIGMA lenses, the 35mm F1.4 DG DN/Art is entirely manufactured in the Japanese Aizu factory, which boasts the highest level of manufacturing capability.

As with all other SIGMA lenses, for this new 35mm F1.4 DG DN/Art, being at the top of its product class is at the core of its design concept. Although significantly smaller and lighter than the current 35mm F1.4, it exhibits an exceptional level of sharpness across the entire frame, from the center to the edges and at all apertures. It also offers a pleasing and smooth bokeh and good correction of optical aberrations.

Designed exclusively for mirrorless cameras, the 35mm F1.4 DG DN/Art is light enough to be perfectly balanced when mounted on a mirrorless camera. It also features a series of professional-level functions such as ultra-fast AF, a lockable and unlockable aperture ring, and a customizable AFL button. All of this makes it a lens with uncompromising ergonomics and handling, ideal for both professional work and casual shots, excellent for both photography and video.

SIGMA is pleased to present the new benchmark for 35mm prime lenses.

Key features

1. Exceptional optical performance

At the heart of the 35mm F1.4 DG DN/Art's design is its sophisticated optical design, consistent with the development of all lenses in the Art line. The optical scheme is based on 15 elements in 11 groups with: two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass lenses, one Extraordinary Low Dispersion (ELD) glass lens, one "F" Low Dispersion (FLD) glass lens, and two aspherical lenses. As with other high-performance lenses, the advanced optical scheme of this lens is based on SIGMA's most innovative design technology, which minimizes all types of aberration, including axial chromatic aberration that cannot be corrected by the camera.
Despite the very wide aperture of F1.4, the lens controls sagittal coma very well, even at full aperture, preventing the formation of bright flare spots, especially at the edges of the image. This is very interesting for photographers who specialize in night sky photography.
Thanks to the 11 rounded aperture blades, the lens offers a smooth and creamy bokeh in out-of-focus areas. This makes the 35mm F1.4 DG DN/Art very suitable for portraits, and offers very sharp images with well-defined colors. It also offers excellent results in backlit shots thanks to the anti-flare and anti-ghosting technology obtained after years of countless simulations and tests in real operating conditions of our lenses. This allows for well-contrasted images without excessive flare even in difficult lighting conditions.

2. Fast and quiet autofocus in a compact barrel

The focusing mechanism of the SIGMA 35mm F1.4 DG DN/Art is based on a stepping motor. This motor drives a single, lightweight optical group, which allows for instant and quiet AF capable of tracking moving subjects. Manual focus is smooth and precise, but with the right resistance to meet the needs of videographers. Of course, the lens has a mode switch on the barrel.
The SIGMA 35mm F1.4 DG DN/Art is fully part of the Art line's informative concept "designed with the utmost attention to optical performance perfection." All of this, together with advanced autofocus performance and good ergonomics, make it a superior performance lens.

3. Professional features

The barrel of the SIGMA 35mm F1.4 DG DN/Art features a ring with which we can set the aperture directly from the lens or, when we set Auto mode, set it via the camera. A slider on the barrel serves to lock the aperture in Auto mode, so that it cannot accidentally change during shooting. An advantage for videographers is the ability to silence the click when adjusting the aperture so as not to create noise problems. On the barrel we also find a slider for the focus mode and an AFL button, which can be customized according to needs from the camera menu (depending on the camera model). The slider is ergonomically positioned so that it can be operated by the thumb.
A petal-type lens hood is included in the package, helps reduce flare and also protects the lens in case of impact. The lens hood has a locking mechanism that securely fastens it to the lens, and its rubber coating allows it to be inserted and removed quickly without difficulty. In addition to the wide range of extraordinary features and an elegant appearance, the body of the 35mm F1.4 DG DN/Art guarantees exceptional durability over time, even under frequent professional use, and enviable ergonomics that make it feel good in the hand. The dust and splash-proof structure ensures tightness even around the buttons and at the contact points between the various parts, and it is also fully coated with rubber. Finally, the water and oil-repellent coating, applied to the front lens, allows the photographer to use it without problems in all weather conditions.
