Iconic moments
Express your creativity at its best with this full-frame mirrorless camera, heir to a legendary model. Lose yourself in the joy of photography for the first time or as many times as you like.
Inspired by the Nikon FM2 camera
The Z f represents the fusion of classic Nikon analog camera design and innovative Z-series technology for top-tier performance. It's the perfect blend of past and present.
Make them yours
The black finish on the precision control dials reveals a fascinating patina over time. The more you use your Z f camera, the more unique it becomes.
The true power of full frame. Pure creativity.
The analog look and control dials of the Z f camera might remind you of 35mm SLR cameras of old, but this full-frame mirrorless camera features the latest technologies and is ready to meet your every creative need. The 24.5 MP full-frame CMOS sensor combines with the EXPEED 7 processor and the light-gathering advantages offered by the wider Z-Mount to provide maximum creative freedom. Sharpness, contrast, color accuracy, dynamic range, focus precision, low-light performance: you get the tools you need to achieve your unique style. Used in Nikon's professional Z 8 and Z 9 cameras, the EXPEED 7 processor allows every element of the camera to operate in sync. It powers the deep-learning AF algorithms that allow the Z f camera to detect and track more subjects than any other mirrorless camera. It underpins the camera's powerful 8.0 stop VR stabilization system.* The EXPEED 7 processor is also why the sensor can deliver such clean, noise-free images at high ISO values. For photography, the Z f camera offers a native ISO range of 100-64,000 (expandable to 204,800 in Hi 1.7 mode). When shooting video, the maximum native ISO value is 51,200 (expandable to 204,800 in Hi 2 mode). You can always achieve exceptional results, even when shooting in the evening or with less-than-ideal lighting, or if you want to capture detailed images in bright sunlight. Perfect shots every time.
Revolutionary stability thanks to the powerful VR function
You've never seen vibration reduction (VR) like this before. The extraordinary VR system of the Z f camera ensures maximum stability for every shot thanks to an incredible 8.0 stops of 5-axis in-body image stabilization and the first ever AF point VR. 1,2 For photography, the AF point VR function provides truly revolutionary control over the sharpest point in the frame. Instead of merely stabilizing the center of the image, the VR system operates on your active AF point. Whether you're composing with a focus point at the edge of the frame or tracking a fast-moving subject, you'll always get optimal sharpness where it matters. For videos, you can combine the camera's in-sensor VR with electronic VR. 3 You'll get perfect handheld footage while walking, and if you use a wide-angle NIKKOR Z lens, any trapezoidal distortion will be corrected. Whether for photos or videos, the camera's built-in VR is ideal for stabilizing bright lenses. You can even mount vintage NIKKOR F-Mount lenses and shoot with all the benefits of the Z f camera's powerful 8.0 stop VR stabilization, without any loss of image quality.
Subject detection even with manual focus
Thanks to the power of the EXPEED 7 processor and deep-learning technology, this full-frame mirrorless camera offers incredible assistance with manual focus for subject detection. If you activate subject detection while shooting with manual focus (MF), the Z f camera recognizes the subject and automatically moves the focus point to it. This saves valuable time when shooting portraits of people, animals, or birds, as the camera will move the focus point to the subject's face or eye. This allows you to concentrate on composition. Subject detection in MF mode works with both the viewfinder and the monitor. You can also use it for shooting with vintage F-mount lenses.
Fully rotating vari-angle monitor
The first fully rotating vari-angle touchscreen monitor in a full-frame Nikon Z camera simplifies shooting from any angle while maintaining a clear view of the frame. Additionally, you can assign shooting functions in a new way with Fn Touch. Fn Touch allows you to assign key controls to nine customizable areas on the bright, high-resolution touch monitor. This is a flexible and intuitive way to use the camera: simply touch an area to move the focus point, switch between a subject's eyes, select display grids, activate a virtual horizon, and more. By activating Fn Touch, you can also look through the viewfinder to compose the image while using your thumb to specify focus on the monitor. Whether monitor or viewfinder, you'll always have perfectly smooth operation. When rotating the camera for vertical shooting, the on-screen menus and controls rotate to the vertical orientation. And if you rotate the monitor towards yourself, the camera automatically enters portrait mode.
Capture breathtaking details with Pixel Shift technology
For the first time in a Nikon Z camera, Pixel Shift technology allows you to combine up to 32 shots to create extremely detailed, ultra-high resolution images with spectacular color reproduction. It's ideal for shooting in controlled studio environments or in scenes where the subject is completely still. Select a one-pixel shift to merge four or eight shots into a 24 MP RAW image, equivalent in size to four RAW frames. Or choose a 0.5-pixel shift to merge 16 or 32 shots and create a RAW image with up to 96 MP resolution, with a maximum image size equivalent to 16 RAW frames. When merging eight or 32 shots, moiré, false colors, and noise are drastically reduced. Combined with the capabilities of the Z f's sharp focusing system, the results of Pixel Shift shooting are truly astounding. Incredible results without compromise.
