A UV filter does not provide a real visual effect on the image. Consequently, having a simply neutral and transparent glass, it is used more as a protective filter for the front lens than as a filter for a particular effect. It certainly blocks most UV rays that could reach the sensor, theoretically allowing for greater image sharpness with slightly warmer tones. Unfortunately, the effect is so limited that its real use is as a protective glass.

A photographic filter is an optical accessory that, when placed in front of the lens, can make a specific modification to the captured image.
